Jann Harrison
Jann Harrison is an accomplished painter with deep southern roots. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee with two daughters, two dogs and two rabbits. Harrison's life long fascination with art began in childhood. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a minor in art history from the University of Tennessee.
Having explored the full gamut of subject matter in past years, Jann Harrison is currently focusing on figurative work in which the attitude and posture of her subjects is exaggerated. In her most recent series, the Perils of Francois, Harrison introduces Francois, a mythical figure of a man with the head of a frog in caricature. Through his persona, Harrison directs social comment toward the lighter side of life and also provides us with whimsical written interpretations, in the form of vignettes, accompanying her paintings. Through Harrison's artistic vision, we are able to explore the intricate relationships between the family, friends and lovers of Francois as he travels the world in his quest for the quintessence of life.
Life is the journey; painting is the journal of where we have been and whom we have encountered along the way. To search is nothing, to find is the thing, Pablo Picasso.
